Japreet Singh Lehal, Lawyer

Japreet Singh Lehal is a lawyer (Barrister and Solicitor). He graduated with a Juris Doctor (JD) degree. Upon entering law school, he was awarded the Newton Rowell Entrance Scholarship. He completed his BA (with Distinction) from Simon Fraser University and was recognized as a political science graduate with the highest CGPA.
Japreet served as a student representative on SFU Community Trust’s Board of Directors and as a student senator. He was the marketing manager at an accounting firm. Japreet is also an experienced writer, as he was a newspaper columnist for more than five years. During his first year of law school, Japreet was a staff editor for the Western Journal of Legal Studies and was also involved in several mooting competitions.
Japreet is the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, including the BC Secondary Simon Fraser Entrance Scholarship (full undergraduate scholarship), University of Toronto National Book Award and Governor General of Canada’s Academic Medal. At SFU, he was on the Dean’s and President’s Honour Roll for academic excellence, and was also inducted into the Golden Key Honours Society.
He was named as one of the Surrey Board of Trade’s Top 25 under 25 for his community volunteer work. He is the founder of an online platform, for which he was recognized as the Top 24 under 24 and Surrey Board of Trade’s Business Awards finalist. Japreet plays multiple instruments and is a singer-songwriter.
